May 29: Leviticus 10 & Hebrews 10

Today's reading really got me thinking about how seriously God takes holiness. The story of Nadab and Abihu offering "strange fire" is honestly one of those passages that makes you pause.

What struck me was learning that they likely used unauthorized fire sources and may have been under the influence of alcohol when serving in the temple. It makes sense why God immediately gave the command about priests not drinking - there's something about serving God that requires our full attention and reverence.

But then we jump to Hebrews 10, and it's like this beautiful contrast. All those imperfect sacrifices that had to be offered over and over again are replaced by Jesus' one perfect sacrifice. No more going back again and again - it's finished.

The connection between these two passages really highlights how much our relationship with God has changed through Christ.

(And tomorrow we’ll read Hebrews 11, one of my favorite chapters! It’s the “hall of fame” or many of the heroes of faith. And honestly inspires my faith each time I read it!)
